Title: what do you do with used gear oil?
Post by: Iahawk on December 20, 2020, 10:00:00 PM
went for a nice 13 mile ride today..chilly 36 degrees (2.2 C) but the sun was out. It was odd riding around while there is an almost full snow cover on the ground (roads were dry).

Wanted to warm up the scoot for the end of season oil and gear oil change.

What do you guys do with your used gear oil? Mix it in with your used engine oil for recycling? Seems like they are both oil..so that should be fine. I think in the past I've just poured it into my 'used oil' milk jug. Curious what everyone else does.

And let's hope for a short winter in the Midwest so we can get back riding.

Yup. Gear, engine and bugle oil all go in the same can to take to recycle tank at Walmart.

I take my used oils county garage. The mechanics thete have a furnace designed to burn their used oils from servicing county vehicles and Sheriff cars.
Diesel is a dollar a pound to get rid of!

Any auto parts store or Walmart will recycle oil as well.
