For several years it has been my habit to ride my scooter to a village and purchase my coffee and sit at sidewalk tables. If it is too cold I do not remove my helmet or balaclava.
But the Covid mask has had me stumped.
"How to do I get masked up when I go into the coffee shop - without exposing my head to the cold?"
The balaclava worn over my nose fogs my glasses as soon as I stop.
No way to put the mask on while wearing a balaclava and helmet!
Can't hook the mask to the helmet.
Scarf around the whole operation ?....I'd need an assistant.
So, I practiced: I simply must put on the mask before the balaclava when suiting up at home. Then tuck it under my chin while riding - pull it up when I get there.
Just one more little insignificant reason while I'll be glad when this is over.

Is the requirement there to wear a surgical mask then? Here in the UK, the request is to wear a "face covering", i.e. a balaclava or neckerchief would suffice!
-
Yes, here in Italy its also enough to wear a balaclava, skihat or kind of shawl as long as you cover nose AND mouth with them.

Maybe given his medical background, Stig's being suitably cautious! (We'd call it "belt 'n' braces")

Yes, you're right. My wife as an MD urges me all the time to change my surgical mask (after shopping etc.) daily or even more often if saturated by exhaling.

Without exception, I forget my mask every time I remove my helmet and have to turn around and grab it from the top case.
Without exception, I work with a mask on, wear gloves and distance myself as much as possible when around people. It didn't help. I am 3 weeks into isolation and quarantine. I got sick the week before Thanksgiving. Getting better slowly. Be safe everyone.

Hope for a speedy recovery LidoCA.

Darn sorry to hear this Lido....
If you wish - could you expand on what your symptoms are?
Have you been able to do your recovery at home?
Anyway - prayers for a full recovery.

Sorry to read that Steve, but it's a cautionary tale for all of us to be as careful as we can at the moment! Glad you're on the mend.
