Pls see pics:
Just to compare how deep this plug might reach.

Agree....your new one is the wrong part.
These get torn up after being overtightened don't they.
Fortunately the whole kit is common & inexpensive on ebay.
I've had a new kit in the spares drawer for years - so far haven't needed it.

Some time ago I ordered an additional plug from China. The idea was to install a magnet on the plug but I discovered that the threaded part was shorter as well. The wall thickness was thinner as well. The plug fitted perfectly but due to the shorter threaded part I decided not to use the plug at all. I thought the higher risk of cross threading the scooter’s drain hole thread with a plug like that is just too big.

Read with interest your article about implementing an additional oil cooler. We had to do that on BMW airheads (R 80/R100 GS Paris Dakar) to prevent overheating in desert areas. Kit which really worked were available plug and play, oilcooler was mounted then on the right lower crashbar. Also bigger oilsumps were installed.
Worked pretty well, lowered oiltemp around 20°.
In this, Kymco, case the plug is fine just too long.
Will shorten and use them up.
