I now have first season on a scooter. I bought a 2013 Kymco Xciting 500RI and while only rode 2000 kms I enjoyed it very much. I was thinking of buying another scooter for next year and looking for thoughts on a larger wheel one like a Piaggio .

Ottawa On. I have a B V 350 Piaggio two years so far and love it, 39,000 Km.s I have installed spot lights on the side of the fender, for after dark riding, as the headlights are hard to adjust , installed new malossi belt with malossi variator, hardly no change it RPM. or speed, installed RPM gauge , and Dr. pulley sliders, new tires front and back getting good milage from them, little over 10,000 Km. rear and about 20,000, front, both city grip, bought my bike from Goulet motorsport in Ste. Therese Que., had noise from the rear gear box, the wet clutch was rubbing on the inside case, dont know what caused it to wear, new one on my table waiting for new bearings, they where OK, but while it is open new bearings are going in, with new clutch, it sure looks like a small car clutch, next spring Im taking a ride by Kingston again, hope to see you then, joe goulet de dee here

I ride with the Ottawa valley scooter club mostly vespas, real nice people to ride with, my other scoot is a kymco yager --frost 2009 model, my older scoot is a tired downtown 300i., dont do service on scoots when you are angry, did I screw it up,. WOW!!!

Since this is my first scooter I was wondering what difference there is in the riding position and feel on the road of the bigger wheels. I have chance to pickup 2006 Bev that has oil leak and has not been maintained very well.

if you follow scooter west .com ( ROBOT ) HE HAS ONE TO,. models got a lot better after 2015, for better servicex life

Piaggio larger wheel scooters have a devoted fan base, for good reason. If they appeal to you I’d say go for it, I doubt you’d be disappointed.

I never considered the 500RI a small wheeled scooter. I guess I always thought of scooters with 10" and 12" as small wheeled.

13 & 14” on my X-Town so I guess that puts me somewhere in the middle?

My 500RI has 120/70-15 front tire and 150/70-14 rear. My GV has 12" tires which I consider small tire scooter.
I had to look up the BV 350 tire size 110/70-16 front and 150/70-14 rear.

That’s close to the Beverley 300 then, which is 14” rear and 16” front.

Would a 1" taller front tire but narrower tire make much difference?

That's what my Yamaha Majesty has as well on tire size with a new set of Pirelli angels.

Not in the real world I’d guess. Be hard pressed to list much difference between my scooter and my motorcycle in terms of grip & handling - other than ground clearance! There, I’ve said it!

Thanks for the help. When I looked closer the oil leak is at a gasket in motor and will need to much work for 1000 dollars. I will keep looking for a winter special in better shape to buy.
