Title: Not much riding this year!
Post by: john grinsel on November 23, 2020, 03:03:36 PM
The virus cut my riding this year.  Was planning on trip after election....but now am going to wait.  Scooter is still in daily transportation use as I have no car.

End of Jan 2021 will find me with 2 year old scooter and no warranty, but only 12,000 miles at that time.  With 82 approaching spring 2021----and no desire to quit riding---looking at new bikes, smaller/lighter, Kymco Like 150/Kymco Spade 150---Hondas too expensive---Suzuki/yamaha probably have Kymco heart anyway.  Could keep my present Xtown 300i (wise as it probably has little used value and if it quits, leave and take bus or rental car home)  XTown could buy another new to ride under warranty as I know bike, know best windshield combo and for that matter, what top box works best for me and the dog----and of course change tires to Heidenau from the first day!!   only thing XTown in my book lacks--PARKING BRAKE!   Even after a few miles, seat gets comfortable.

Next year would like to do Hyder AK again, like the ride thru the Canadian Rockies, really beautiful!,
Maybe more camping 2021 as I am tired of India run motels  and their often extra charges for dogs and not so great condition.

Have you tried any of the brake clamps available John?  I use this one to good effect:

I have one from Aerostich.  Do not use it very often....figure bike maker should provide!

My Xciting 500 has a parking brake but the 250 Xciting  does not even though they are the same bike.  I have yet to use the parking brake.  The roads are usually crowned so I just back the bike into a parking space with the rear tire against the curb.

Can't argue with that!

Fair point and me too.  On the odd occasion I can't do that, I really have to wrack my brain to remember where I stashes the brake clamp!
