Title: Anyone tried J Costa variator?
Post by: bongoman on October 10, 2010, 02:57:35 AM
My Dr Pulley sliders wore out, took a few other parts with them, so a new variator is in order. I've read some good things about J Costa. Anyone had any experience?

hi, i have a j costa on my burgman 400s (06). so far i have 7500 miles on the costa with no problems. have read on burgman forum about some owners having troubles - it went out and took the stock pulley with it. improves take-off a lot and reduces. rpm at higher speed . hopes this helps. iker

Thanks Iker.

On my Dr. Pulley sliders, my X500 got about 12k miles. That would be about 18k kilometers.
The problem was the mechanic that changed my belt did not check them. They were already worn, and continued until they took out the rest.

I have a different mechanic now. I am not one. Wish I was, but we all have talents, and mine don't go that way.

Since I have to get the whole tranny rebuilt, I'm going to upgrade where practical. I use mine for touring more than racing and high performance.

I like the Dr. Pulleys in some ways. They did take some getting used to. Fuel consumption went up.
