Took my first twilight ride of the Autumn this afternoon in temperatures at c10C (50f) on the assumption that my rule of thumb about anything at or above double digit temperatures is OK for riding. Wrong! Humidity may have affected wind chill or something, but after an hour out on the scooter my hands (in mid-weight leather gloves) were feeling distinctly uncomfortable. I think if I am to continue riding through winter, I need to equip the XT with heated grips. Watch this space.
It's now two hours later as I sit tapping the keyboard and I'm just beginning to feel a comfortable temperature again ::) What a wuss. I used to bike 365 year round without ever considering heated kit. Must be an age thing.

Yeah, at speed - 50 can chill you!
I always error on the warm side.....rarely regret it!
Circulation to extremities degrades over the years my doctor says.
('course some will jump in - I'm 90 and never wear pants in the winter!! - whatever)
Was thinking this morning that this isn't dumb to be out here, in the dark - riding. Layer up - and enjoy the countryside (what you can see of it in the dark!)
