other than that , it was a pretty nice predawn ride. Mid 50's.

Me, three!

We have them in the middle of the Lane and often on a bend (curve) here in the UK. Keeps you on your toes that’s for sure.
Going from grip to zero coefficient of friction in an instant and then back again is a sphincter-tightening experience I can tell you!

Curious.
I experience the exact opposite.

I've altered my route through town, out to my distant coffee village, because they laid 2 blocks of steel plates in the lane in which I must brake and turn from....while being pursued by heavy traffic moving at 40mph.
More plates are scattered about the downtown, but I'm OK riding on them as long as braking and turning aren't required 😊
Fortunately I was on the Liberty when I discovered all those plates...the ABS stepped in and got me slowed safely. Only the 2nd time I've felt it activate. The other time was on some fine wet tree debris at a stop sign - when I was going 25mph.

Yep, it's quite scary when the ABS activates. Once on the PCX125 saved me from binning it at about 25mph on gravel at a junction and so far never on the Kymco. Only a matter of time though I guess.
