Title: Rear wheel cover - rubbing&melting on tyre

On my Kymco Yager GT200i the rear wheel cover lost its connection to the air filter (again) - this was already welded by the repair shop a year ago.

And now the cover rubs on the tyre and the material is melting and then breaking of as the tyre heats up and rubs onto the cover.

Now wheel cover is already ordered.

1. What can I do in the meantime?
2. How can I avoid this from happening?

Remove it and fabricate a flap similar to this:

Remove it and throw away. Chances are slim that there is any need for a replacement. My Agilty’s wheel cover got damaged as well and I got rid of the cover, as well as the stupid looking  “whale tail” mudguard at the rear. To my surprise hardly any dirt ends up on the gearbox or engine.
I simply love the “badass” look since those things have been removed.

It is not the tail garde that is rubbing it is one over the wheel that protects the motor and wires around the top, 
 
 you can drill a hole throu and install a nylon nut on a bolt to replace, the one that came loose
  if I remember the original nut in there is a spring clip nut that can be replaced., so you can just replace the bolt,.
