Title: Motorized bicycles taking the place of scooters?
Post by: Kansas kymco on September 24, 2020, 01:16:34 PM
Around town I'm seeing several motorized bicycles running around. The Chinese kits are dirt cheap ( 80cc kit $118. on ebay)  and no licence or tag on them. They seem to go pretty good as well. See a guy going to work every morning on one doing about 30-35 mph.

We had a motorized skate board at our park doing a bit over 20 MPH.

The battery powered e-cycles are becoming very popular over here too!

Seen one of those on the county road up in Ely. I followed at a safe distance  and he was doing 30 mph according to the truck speedometer.  I thought a unexpected get off would hurt at that speed.

I've seen a couple of those as well running around town.  One day my scooter and motorcycle collection may become  obsolete. Heck I'm probably obsolete as well.

Folks driving F-150's would quickly exterimate powered bicycles in my county.
Over the past 8 yrs they've kept the numbers of scooter riders at just above extinction.

Folk don't want to take public transport anymore and parking the car in the middle of town can be extortionate. As Neil say, the battery assisted bicycle is become very popular for the short-ish commute.

Not just short ones, some of these e-cycles claim a flat road range of 20-ish miles!

I think that is where electric vehicles shine, a pre-determined route such as a commute.  For greater distance gas / petrol is hard to beat for a energy source.
