With my current Downtown 300i having over 27k miles, and the model no longer marketed in the US I’d like to move up to a 400cc bike. I’d love it to be an Xciting 400, likewise it’s also no longer marketed in the US.
Regardless, I’m looking for used models - 2017-19, if possible. However, my local scooter dealership suggested that I’d consider another brand/model due to the difficulty in getting parts for any Xciting bikes. Anyone finding this to be true?

Hey De Dee!
Great to hear from you, and congrats on your upcoming birthday! I still really love my Downtown, but I think I need something a little faster. It's hard to find that nice balance between speed and gas milage, and the Downtown seems to in that perfect zone. The Xciting is pretty close - faster, with just slightly less gas milage. My last big trip took me from Philadelphia to the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia. I feel I need something that could ride comfortable at 70-80 mph cruising speed.
The local dealership have been pushing me to get the Piaggio 350. Is it the speed the same as the Downtown, or faster? Every time I look at a picture of one it seems smaller than the Downtown.

if you are in Ottawa this fall again call me and have a ride on my B V 350, it feels so much like the downtown at speed and can ride at 70 to 80 with comfort,.

If only they would bring the AK550 to the US shore. I've found several low milage 500's that I've latched onto but people say they have cam issue. No more then I have invested in them I don't worry about it will just keep them serviced. The other issue is their getting long in the tooth, age wise.
I would think the x-town would be a good replacement for a 300 and is a current model?

The Ak550 would be amazing, though out of my price range. The higher cc bikes are great for day and long trips, but not as much for daily commutes. 300-400cc bikes fit into that requirement in terms of size, and gas mileage.
Still, I’m keeping my options opened.

Used scooters are so cheap you can have a small displacement nimble scoot for around town and larger maxi scooter for highways.

Good point. Convincing my wife that I should have 2 shooters may be a harder fight. Still, the used scooter lead is my course for now.

Remember the old saying (It's easier to ask for forgiveness then ask for permission). Just kidding, don't want to get someone in trouble.

Ha! Well, since my wife has four older brothers, I’m already outnumbered. Don’t get me wrong, she loves riding with me on my bike, but having a second one (unless I win the lottery) would be too indulging.
