Howdy Folks! So my speedo quit working last week. Both dials on tach and speedo still do their thing when key is on to start. Thinking it must be the front wheel speed sensor has gone bad, how I am not certain but because the needle still goes from zero to 110 at start up I do not anticipate the problem is in the instrument cluster. Found replacement speed sensor for about a 1/2 a C-note. Anyone have an alternate theory before I place order? Thanks......
BTW, after putting 50,000 miles on this kymco my wife allowed me to finally move up to either purchase a used FC600 Honda silverwing or a BMW C650GT. After trying both out and reading all the reviews I went with the BMW and man is that one awesome scooter....it is the cream of the crop when it comes to scooters. I gave the nod to the BMW because Kymco provides the power for the Beemer and since my DT300 has been so dependable I went with what I knew, even though the Honda is also a great bike, the BMW just feels so much better.

Just looked at My 2019 XTown, I think the pickup is electronic and if your is similar.
Beware on BMW maint. costs. I speak as BMW owner since 1958!!

For an alternate idea for speed sensor is first did you check the gap between the sensor and the tone ring? These things are nearly bullet-proof. Next a salvage yard or maybe ebay....

Thank you for the advice C.B. I did remove sensor, cleaned all the contacts, checked tolerances and still no go. My uneducated guess is somehow in the removing of the front wheel for tire changes over the years I might have finally severed a wire maybe??? Anyway I know I could live without the speedo but my OCD won't allow it...lol. So I ordered a new sensor and if I am wrong I'm out about a Grant....sometimes we spend and win and sometimes not. Hit and miss right!
And John, I agree with you when it comes to Beemer cars and my daughter who didnt listen to her daddy is now sorry for buying her BMW. Though it has been relatively maintenance free when it does need it boy it aint cheap, but the old adage applies..."If you can afford a luxury car you should be able to afford the upkeep".
As far as the BMW scooter goes, since it has a rock solid Kymco drive train I feel good about it.

If you have to/want to change pick up ring---mine got bent in tire change, new ring from Kymco Dealer $11.00--I bent mine back into shape.
