Title: Cleaning the plastic
Post by: orpicker on October 07, 2010, 03:17:51 AM
Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to clean the gas stains and scuffs on the black plastic on my People 250?

Usually gasoline will soak into the pores of plastic and damage the finish if water isnt used to diluted the chemicals in the gasoline.
If worse comes to worse you will have to spray the damaged plastic with Krylon Fusion spray paint which is pacifically designed for plastic and has excellent results. All hardware stores sell this such as Home Depot and Loews

I use Honda Spray Cleaner And Polish on my Kymco. My Kymco dealer use to carry it, but then I found it at a Honda dealer for a better price. It is the only cleaner I have ever used on the Kymco.

Take a look at it.

I'm using a Maguire's product I found at Walmart called something like Interior Shine, I think.  Works really well.  Whatever of these products you get, I suggest going over the stained areas several times.  Eventually, I've gotten the stained areas back to normal.

If you get fuel on any plastic parts while filling you can always take one of them window washing squidgy things and splash water notice I said splash, water onto the plastic area you ooops spilled gas on. Please splash the water on and not use the squidy on the plastic, it will not only scratch it but you will get gas on it and the next person that uses the squidgy will get gas / oil on there windshield.

I just covered all the black plastic area on my 250 with truck bed liner. Gas isnt an issue any more.
