I would stay well away from these. I fitted one in June and it only lasted 2 months!!
-
try a doppler, polini or mallosi kevlar they wont let you down ;)
-
I believe Malossi are good for parts, but their belts are short lived, as far as I have seen, if not going stock, Gates or Dayco are up with the best.
-
need one for the new kid on the block ;D got a lil slippage going on with the 70 the belt is boned,if you leather it from a standing start i get like a turbo dump valve let off noise from the cvt area so i know thats the prob, yet ride a couple of miles and do the same thing and it stands on the back wheel, kymmmmmmmm come back, lol,no only messin love my ice ;)
-
Apparently, Malossi belts are soft, warm them up and they grip, but, trade off is short life. Good for racing, race-replace.
-
Apparently, Malossi belts are soft.thats the only problem with this set up HIGH FRIKIN MAINTAINCE!!! lol,but again no dis to kymco as you cant have the best of both worlds,as i said in other posts 4t aint for me,unless is starts around 500cc plus, and then i wouldnt have a clue how to fix the engine lol,2t different story ;D ps sid i recon that would explain the avalance of dust that fell out the cvt cover on recent inpection then ;)
-
...i've had good luck with standard Gates "Powerlink" belts...
..had two bad experiences with Kevlar belts..but i was experimenting with belt sizes then...
..kevlar belts make one helluva mess when they pop...
-
come on slinger more info please, what happens bud? :o
-
...you get small chunks of rubber left in your housing and the rest turns to a cottony puffy substance that fills every cubic centimeter of open area within your cvt...
..even gets in between the coils of your fly clutch springs..
..requires a TOTAL disassembly of ALL your cvt components to get it all cleared out....
:-\
-
Goodbye frikin kevlar :o
Ok the results of a none kevlar belt snapping would be?,sorry aint ever had this happen excuse my ignorace :-[
-
...not all belt "sizes" work the best with a particular set-up...
..i'm really liking the gates 729-17.7-28 powerlink belt in my a50...
..it is slightly longer than the oem bando.....
..and i'm kinda itching to run one in my ppl 50...which was the scoot that i was experimenting with belt sizes...
..both "should" run the same belt...but the 2-stroke puts a greater load on the belt...initially, anyway...
-
mmmmmmmm,i need a lil belt research on the offending item ie my scoot lol ;)
-
...itsa balance...
..but run what you gots dude!!
..sounds like its screamin'!!
-
needs a little lower ratio too much set off power,im feeling that one :)
-
...a longer belt would take away from the ...take-off..... as well as increase top speed...
..if you can balance it....
-
Im gonna give it a try thats for sure ;)
-
...SLIGHTLY!!!!...longer...
..like by 1/16th inch....
-
Belt research time,muchhhhhhhhhhhhhh ::)
-
..yeah..a cpl mm here or there will GREATLY affect cvt performance...
-
I have the kevlar belt put on last summer and stell good.I am thinking of trying a slight wider belt
for fast take off. thats if I can find one.
-
Yeah I had the problem with the belt leaving powder everywhere. I cleaned it up best I could without taking apart the clutch. I suppose I should do that!
I dont have the holding tool for the clutch. I might try and make one.

WHAT BLUE SAID ;D

..it's always good to keep your cvt bits nice and clean...
..they will perform better clean, in my experience...
..if you can't get the clutch dis-assembled, you can still clean it up fairly well...
..get a can or two of aerosol electrical contact cleaner...
..remove the clutch, spray all into the bell and pad area...
..if you have compressed air available, that would be a plus...
..but kinda try to keep the cleaner away from the bearings..the center of the assembly...
..don't want to wash out your grease...
..concentrate on the "bell" area...
..hell, even compressed air alone will remove quite a bit of crap..
-
I am asking santa (the missus lol) for a compressor this year,i need one in my life ;)

You won't regret it, I have a little 2.5hp one, very, very handy.

What I should have put in my last post was that last Xmas, I received two vouchers for a local auto parts store from my in~laws, so I used them to buy a wall mounted retractable air hose, is absolutely magic, no more tangled hoses, is ratcheting to lock when extended and winds up, no hassle. :)
-
lol sid that retractable hose just made the list as well,i opened the cvt case and my gosh what a mess looked like a black sand storm had ripped thro there, had to brush it out before i replaced the belt on the ice compressed air would have been a god send,i was gonna go a lil longer belt wise but i opted for the standard piaggio belt and im glad i did no slippage and no slip from cold like the belt that was in there, but i have lost top end speed, but i can live with that cos it just sets off from a standing start quicker ;D
