Title: On Board Tools For Flat Tire? What Do You Carry With You?
Post by: yodaismycopilot on August 12, 2020, 09:22:05 PM
Hello People 150 Forum Citizenry.

I just bought my first bike, a People 150. I am embarrassed to admit that there are a few things about riding that I had not really thought much about before actually trying to do so. One is: What do I do if I get a flat? So I'm referring to youtube. I'm wondering what folks here do in anticipation of this. Do you carry a tool set to complete the job? Where do you store it? What tools do you carry?

Thanks so much!

You plug the tire, and then inflate it.
If it's not roadside repairable. ..you use your roadside assistance insurance and have it towed to a dealer.
Shop motorcycle tire plug kits and a portable method of inflation to carry with you.
Ebay or amazon or Revzilla.
Roadside tire changes are not practical.

Thank you! I didn't even know about plugging.

I've used Stig's recommended method on many occasions down the years and these kits have never let me down.  Thoroughly recommended!

Me, too! Stig and Neil. Walmart sticky rope, reamer and inserter plus blubber cement. Actally, used it on everything at least once. All holding air!

As recommended by all, a plug kit with co2 cart’s. I like the mushroom style but those require a special gun to install. If you do plug, I recommend replacing the tire ASAP. Most shops will not patch a tire, the liability is to great. If a shop will do the repair, I recommend a “plug-patch, which is a combo patch with a plug attached and requires the tire dismount

Have had a number of these done on both motorcycle and scooter and found them to last the life of the tyre.  Repair with confidence if it's in the repairable area of the tyre!
