Title: Anyone import a bike/scooter from Canada?

Curious if anyone has done this? How much hassle was it?

depends, A friend of mine imported a Kawasaki, don't remember the exact model, but it was a 250cc not sold in US, at the time she lived in Vermont, and it was easy

fwiw, I believe you can still register by mail as a non resident, in VT, then transfer to your state. it's a way that a lot of people use to get 2 strokes registered
