the size your looking for is 20mm outer dia 14mm inner dia 38mm length,if you remove your old boss take it to an engineers they probably charge you £5 to sort bud,you just have to take the lil step off it,takes 1 minute with a lathe :)

hi i live in the england ive got a 50cc agility rs i know like nothing about peds but going 30mph is getting on my nerves and i dn want to have to pay expensive garage prices i know that there is sometimes a washer in the exhaust but i would like to know what i need to do to totally derestrict my ped i have just joined and dont know hw to post my own question so i put it on here lol please help  :)
Title: Re: De-restricting Boss
Post by: oswaldters on November 24, 2010, 12:38:35 AM
I not sure about the rs model, but on the regular agility the main restrictions are the drive boss and the rev limiter on the cdi.

Assuming things are similar on the rs, you need to get a derestricted boss and cut the cdi as the first step.

Once that is done, you can then look into the exhaust and upjetting the carb and even going with a free flow air filter if you want to really get the speeds up.

There is lots of information and even pictures on the forum about derestricting the boss and cutting the cdi - just use the search function at the top of the page.

go to the seach bar at the top of the fourm and typ in restricting boss and that should help you out.
and allso cdi box you may have to cut it.

ok thanks because everyone i know just thinks you have to take the washer out the exhaust but i dont want to do that and just f*** it up
Title: Re: De-restricting Boss
Post by: oswaldters on November 24, 2010, 01:19:30 AM
Again, I'm not familiar with the agility rs, but it doesn't look that different from the agility 50 except for the bigger tires.

If it is anything like the regular agility 50, the washer in the exhaust is not your biggest issue for derestricting.

oh like i didnt know you had to cut any wires and whats a boss im new to this stuff haha also how much do you reccon this will ost in totall
Title: Re: De-restricting Boss
Post by: oswaldters on November 24, 2010, 01:28:20 AM
It's all stuff you can do yourself.

Cutting the wire is free.

Changing the boss - you'll have to find a derestricted boss, not sure how much that costs where you are, but the local dealer should be able to sell you one fairly cheap.  After that, it's no big deal to open up the cvt case and swap it out.

Here's a link to a site that shows you how to do the derestriction on the Kymco - should be applicable to your scoot assuming the cdi is the same as the regular agility 50.

nice and i heard that a mate cut one of his wires and he was driving it and all his indcators and lights cut out and he was on a round about at the time is that from trying to derestrict it or something els because i dont want that to happen i know some people who are good with bike but maily like 600 should i get them to do all the cutting and stuff just incase?
Title: Re: De-restricting Boss
Post by: oswaldters on November 24, 2010, 01:38:18 AM
Doing the cutting isn't the problem.  It' s knowing what to cut that's the problem.

On the regular cdi, you cut into the body of the cdi itself and you can't really mess it up.  Check out the link I just posted

Not sure if you're going to have to deal with a different situation though.

Hi, tom g and welcome to the forum. Don't cut your CDI just yet!

I did a search and came across this topic here...

http://kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=1324.msg6792#msg6792 (http://kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=1324.msg6792#msg6792)

We don't want you to mess up your scoot! Would it be possible for you to take a pic of your CDI and post it for us to look at and maybe tell us the Part # listed on the CDI. It might help.
Title: Re: De-restricting Boss
Post by: oswaldters on November 24, 2010, 01:46:14 AM
Let us know what you find.

Now that you've seen a picture of the type of cdi we've dealt with, you'll be able to tell if you have something different.

And Rianna is right - don't try and cut anything yet!

Ah yes, the good old college days.  I remember being up all hours back then.

There's lots of information scattered around the forum here on various topics.

I remember it in more recent days, too! Ha!

Post by: oswaldters on November 24, 2010, 02:17:04 AM
Scooters are actually somewhat popular on college campuses these days I hear.

But yeah, we are a car culture here - and it's not unusual for kids turning 16 to be given a car.

Not in my family of course, but I grew up in Canada so that doesn't count.

Not too many scooters where I am, so I stand out.

Except at night when I have my led accent lights on!

Post by: oswaldters on November 24, 2010, 02:18:34 AM
I remember it in more recent days, too! Ha!

Back in the day if I was in bed before 3am people would think I was feeling sick or something.  Used to do my 'evening' run after midnight.

Was a tough transition getting a job and having to get up before noon.

17 is when everyone wants cars over here it just depends how well off you are even if you get a little sh**ty car in a nice area all safe and locked upit can still cost you like near £2000 just for insurance but me and both my brothers have had peds one of them just sold his and got a honda cbr 125 but both theres went like 45 mph restricted and mine is bang on 30mph even down hill haha
Title: Re: De-restricting Boss
Post by: Rianna on November 24, 2010, 02:25:00 AM
That car insurance will kill ya! Takes all your money. Yeah, you got to get rollin' so you can beat the brothers, right?
Title: Re: De-restricting Boss
Post by: oswaldters on November 24, 2010, 02:25:18 AM
Not to worry, you'll fix that problem shortly.

Once you derestrict, you can still get more speed by going with a free flow air filter.

yeah im not gonna get a car till im like 20 im saving up for a gap year when my course is done ad i dunno i can beat one of them his 125 got wrote off my a 4x4 smashing him off it so hes on a pushbike now and the other i think hecan get his up to like near 100mph so ill need some mods to beat him haha

Yeah, I got nothing as well.

The dealer said they would derestrict it for me after the break-in period.

Sadly, the dealer was bankrupt before the scooter was broken in...

So then that is the same cdi as in the Super 8 50 4T.

I believe there is material posted on what to cut in the Super 8 thread.

You might want to do a search for this info in that section of the forum.

Here is a site that lists Kymco cdi numbers and the models they are associated with:

Title: Re: De-restricting Boss
Post by: oswaldters on November 27, 2010, 07:27:51 PM
Being fairly experienced at riding in winter, my advice is don't ride on ice.

Just nothing really you can do to make that a safe situation.

If I can't see pavement it's a no go.  I will ride (gingerly) in slush, but ice is a no-no.

good tiers and let some air out go with a softer tire it puts more rubber on the road.
and just go slow and easy and always thing befor you turn take widers turns and slower.

Post by: tom g on November 28, 2010, 05:39:07 PM
yeah im trying not to ride at all but like i only use main roads so they have more chance of being gritted but the only way ofgetting to my dads is through back roads so i think il just not see him for a few months id rather have no crashes and a working ped haha
