Title: Help to understand what may have happened.
Post by: Nireen on July 20, 2020, 10:36:19 AM
Bike stalled and so I thought maybe to check the spark plug cap and so I pushed it onto the plug and this worked!! so off I went for about 150km down the road and it stalled again and so I went and took the plug right out and the tip of the plug was burnt right off!  so I changed it but this did not solve the issue.  A guy stopped and checked to see if I had fire and it failed the test.  What do you suppose happened.  My God what a nightmare I had for 24 hours and now my bike is outside here inside a U-haul and will take it to my boys this morning. Sigh :)

Failed coil or spark plug cap - or the coil-to-plug wire itself?
You're certain that you are using the correct spark plug?
No spark when grounding plug to engine block?

Good luck - let's hope it is something simple...and inexpensive!

No spark nope.  Well I think I was certain but now I am questioning that.  I just dropped the bike to the boys and he turned the key and it started!! but something is very wrong still.

So, hot no spark
Cool engine starts right up.

Might suggest a coil which is failing?
We had a LIKE doing the same thing.

Yeah when I dropped the bike off today it started and my guy said it could be the coil and when it is hot it won't run but that it cooled off it works.  Will see.
