Hello all! Ok every morning if the temp. is below 45 degrees my xciting wont start worth nothing! Geeze it takes forever to start. What I am wondering is everywhere I look it says our scoots take an NGK CR8E! But my manual says it takes an NGK CR7E??? Which is it and what is the diff? Does anyone else have this problem? Please help me.
I thank you all so much!!

..the 8 is a colder plug..i use a c8hsa instead of the c7, in my a50...
..it's better for longer runs....
..i would bet that you could adjust your idle mix slightly to compensate for the cooler weather...
..cold air molecules are closer together.."heavier" than warm air...
..if you open your idle screw 1/4-1/2 a turn, that might take care of your starting problem...
peace

You have an electric automatic choke. It may not be closing all the way to make a rich mixture of gas to air? I would check this out. It should start fine at this temp. :-*

is your air filter clean? try changing the plug for new one maybe its past its abuse by date...I put a Iridium plug in mine

have you tried spinning and cirlces with your fingers crossed and chanting...
damn its cold, please start
(spin, spin, spin)
damn its cold, please start
(spin, spin, spin)...
HAHA!
Sorry, hope you can figure it out.

LOL I will try the chant and see if it works!! :D

mrjlube, your scoot is still virtually new, right? If nobody comes up with something easy here, I'd take it right to the dealer and explain the frustrating problem. They SHOULD be willing to fix it.
Yours is fuel injected, right?
Most here have said how their scooters are a LITTLE harder to start on cold days, but not quite as bad as what you're describing.
By the way, I hate that you're having this problem with a scoot that so many of us love so much and have few problems with. Don't let it discourage you. Here's hoping it gets solved soon.

Another by the way: I seem to remember reading somewhere there was a recall having to do with the fuel injection on some year of the Xciting? The dealer might have missed that, though he/she should be able to look it up. Try researching it yourself.

Thank you all so much for the replies!! Dont get me wrong, I LOVE my scoot ,it is such a great driving and running machine! I will look into that recall! Don't get me wrong it does start in the cold weather just takes a LLOOOONNG time!!
Thank you all so much again I truely appreciate you all! Have a great day and all be safe!!

are you using fresh fuel? dont think this is a silly idea , if you are working from a tank of fuel which you have stored and has summer grade fuel then it might not start well in winter its formulated slightly different for winter so it will start easier. My fuel injected starts ok at 45F unless the battery charge is low then it would fire but not run..fixed this with bigger battery

Seems I remember someone on the board who had a X500 that had a starting problem and the dealer replaced the starter under warranty. Seems the starter was turning it over too slow, the new starter spins the motor faster for better starts. You may want to bring this up to your dealer and see what they have to say. This person lives in Canada so they know about cold starting...

never encountered that problem...
Oh forgot weather here does not go below 28c or 30c! Damn this tropical weather!
