Title: 2 Stroke vs 4 Stroke Dashboard/Speedometer
Post by: Kanefire on July 10, 2020, 10:12:06 PM
I have 2012 Super 8 50cc 2 stroke (2t).

The speedometer cable came unattached so I dismantled dash to reattach. While attempting to reattach, the white mounting plastic for the dashboard completely disintegrated in my hands, so I need to replace the whole dashboard.

I found two variations on Ebay.

One is for 2t, but tab on white mounting plastic is cracked so concerned it will fall apart.

The other says it is 4t but it also has an oil indicator light used for the 2t model. It also has all the harnesses intact.

I would much prefer the later, but concerned that the 4t will not work on 2t.

Can anyone confirm that is will or won't work?

Thanks in advance.

I wonder if you could compare part numbers from Kymco?  I don't know what the difference in the two may be. With a low cost model I can't see them making a lot of proprietary parts but don't know for sure. Can you compare part numbers on your old speedometer to the 4t speedometer?  I beleive the 4t is 37200 per parts outlaw wasn't sure if the other model is correct for your 2t.

I can't imagine that the engine type will matter if all you want is a working speedo and dash. The only thing that you might have to do is to manually check the oil level in your 2T oil injection tank if the warning light no longer works. The speedo is run off the front wheel so the gear drive should be the same.

You might look online it looks like the case can be bought seperate or purchase the new one and put your contents in the case.
