I found out trying to put my new seat cover on I no longer have thumb strength in my left hand necessary to pull the seat cover tight. A new shop about 3 blocks away did a nice job for a decent price. Ended up taking the sun damaged Lambretta uno 150 cover to him along with a BMW 650 GS cover and had him recover them. Very pleased with the job.

After having several Kymco seat covers installed and extremely pleased with his work the guy is closing down his shop. He will move to East of Atlanta Georgia. I guess his Dad does steel docks on some private high end lake community where home prices start a million and up. Told me it was a move to ensure financial security for his family. I wish him success but hate to lose such a talented person.

good niche to work in, I know several contractors, carpenters, dock people, etc, as well as those specializing in island work, that just go from, job to job, never ending, god economy, bad economy, doesn't matter, before I retired, I did a lot of environmental permitting, I shoulda charged more. I've seen $10m homes that are less than 10 years old get torn down cause the new owner just bought it for the lot location and waterfront, then built a new $10m home more to his (wife's ) liking.

They do most of their work during the winter for a couple of reasons. First the lake is lowered and second the clientele don't want to see trades people while they are having their fun of a summer.

that is not an issue here, my son is a pool guy, weekly maintenance, he's even done the Bush's pool at Walker Point in Kennebunkport, he says the former Pres was a cool dude, but his wife Barbara, is an a-hole.
I went to a CEU seminar yesterday, spoke with other surveyors that I haven't seen in a while, a big % is just like me, 68-70 years old, closing shop, not enough young guys coming into the profession. Guess it takes a special person, to wade thru swamps, thrash thru thornbush, wind up between arguing neighbors, with liability that extends forever, as doctors bury their mistakes, dentists pull theirs, lawyers litigate theirs, and surveyors put theirs on record forever at the county registry of deeds
