Well after 30 hours of travel i woke up in Taipei. Grabbed my camera and headed out. On the way from the airport i passed 3 Kymco shops so i knew i was in the right place ;D
Morning drive time...

The scooter majority.
There are usually two stop lines in the street. The first right at the intersection is for scooters and the second 15 or 20 ft back is for cars. This lets the scoots "stage" at the front for the race off the line.
Shooting out of "Taipei 101". Had to talk my way in because they were convinced i was a professional with my big video camera and professionals have to pay a big fee. Oops. Maybe i misspoke. ;D

I've been going nonstop but hope to jump on a scoot sometime in the next 4 days.

Good pics. Great to see how the rest of the world lives and rides.
-
That's amazing to see all those scoots!
Must be nice to not have to wait for weeks to get parts - or drive long distances to get to a dealer.
-
Nice! Can you get a Downtown 300I for me in your carry on ;) Just drop it at the portland airport I'll take it from there :D Totally awsome man, wish more of our streets looked like that.
-
Wow, I wonder what floor that is in that building? Looks pretty high up...all those pretty lights. Nice view of the city, WT!
-
art - head on out to the airport and i'll have it there in a day or so. Just wait, it'l get there eventually...
Rianna - i think it was the 89th floor.
Tomorrow i'll have some time to wonder with my cam again. Let's see what fun things we can find/ ;D
-
Great pics. If you run across a Yager GT 200i service manual I would like to know if they really exist, other than online! It's probably called the Dink 200i or Grand Dink 200i. If you see one, I would love to have the address to order it!
-
Yes i've heared about the Dink. I hope to find a good Kymco shop on monday.
Trip continues to go well.
This lady holds Ethics and Family Values assemblies in public schools across the island. Teen suicide is a big problem here and she is trying to give kids tools to deal with stress. Nice lady.

My version of a fishing day. Wandering the streets looking for people to photograph. Found some...

Coollll
Funny how that lady is staring at your camera wondering what your doing lol
Heyyyyy while you there and since Christmas is just around the corner.... could you package up a Myroad 700i and send it to me?? Just lable it as Christmas candy, I am sure it will make it here with no problem! ;D :D
take care and enjoy, learn a lot too!

Finally a trip to the Kymco dealer (3 in fact).
Basically a atore front that turns into a shop when open. The "showroom" is on the sidewalk out front.

No US models in sight but i liked the look of this "Racing 150".

Your basic A/C gy6 smaller than a Super8 but with front AND rear disc breaks. I like the LED tail light.
If understood corectaly the price was in the 1K range.

Also got to see a Quannon 150 inside the shop. Not a bad looking little sport bike.
They didn't speak any english and didn't seem interested in a "hand signals" conversation. I guess i'm spoiled my local dealer that lets my whole scooter club crash his garage and pester him with questions and advice a couple of times a week. ;D
-
Lucky bugger, never seen so many Kymcos, they are quite a hot looking bunch too. Thanks for the pics.
-
this is an awesome thread!
Keep it up, I like seeing the scoots and the views!
-
Hey glad you folks enjoyed the posts.
I'm in Japan airport on the way home now.
When i got to the Taipei airport this morning i found out that i have finally flown enough miles on United that i have achieved "Executive" status. That means that even though i am still a poor video guy flying at the "back of the buss" i can now use the United lounge on layovers. So i can eat and drink and use the internet for FREE in places like this while i wait for my next flights.

Feel kind of out of place with all the "high tone folks" but i guess i earned it the hard way. ;D
-
That's just not fair that they have so many cool scoots to choose from!
Those are some great looking scoots there - led lights, dual disk brakes - that's what I'd like to see in a showroom here.
And being able to hang out in that lounge would be okay with me too.
-
Looks like you had an awesome visit, WT. How long was the flight on plane? That Executive Lounge looks cool. Not a bit crowded!
-
..........wwwwowwwwww.............
-
I know that the flight from chicago to narita is hummm something like 12 or 13 hours there and 11.5 hour back... being as I have been to japan 5 times now....
recently thinking about going to philippines and that is about another 4 hours from japan
-
another 4 hours from japan
..i wanna go.................................................................
-
Can you take a scoot as carry on?
-
...sure!!..for $1235.00...lol...
:o
-
oswaldters - Looking at the US Kymco web site we have a lot more selection here than i actually found there. But of course the reality in the show rooms we have is quite different.
Rianna - the longest flight on the way back was 9 hours. Accompanied by a 4 hour one, a 3 hour one and a 2 hour one. In the end 26 hours from hotel door to the door of my house.
griffon_j9 - Tokyp has to be one of the coolest Cities ever. And i'm starting to think that the philippines might be THE pace to go for modding. Soooo, should we plan a group trip? ;D
-
26 Hours! You must have been exhausted when you hit the door at home! Oh, I bet the phillipines is awesome, too!
-
Thats awesome WT. I would love to go.
-
Yes it was cool (hot actually) ;D
Next up Shanghai!
