Some of these recent threads got me thinking about how my 2 girls, ages 10 and 13, want nothing to do with my scooter! I really thought that most kids would find it thrilling to ride on the back of a scooter but mine have ridden a grand total of 3 times in the past 5 years.
Every time I ask them if they want to go for a ride with me they say no. I put a top case on there so they have a kind of backrest so they'd feel a little more protected. I got them a cool helmet to wear. Nothing matters. They don't want anything to do with my scooter or motorcycle.
How about you guys? Do your younger kids show any interest? Older kids?

All are embarrassed to some degree by my scooter riding.
I can't blame them - pretty silly for a giant American to go out in public on a scooter in this country.

Not silly, just means you're enough of a man to not need supplementary masculinity from the vehicle.

My “kids” are 40+ and only my son in the US owns a motorcycle and is a keen biker.
My daughter is an ICU registered nurse, has seen some results of motorcycle accidents, and unfortunately my poor son in law will be killed if he dares to buy a motorcycle.
My two granddaughters nearby (8 and 4 years old) simply loves my scooter and usually bowls me over to take them for a ride.

I got my son a dirt bike when he was 10 and he loved it. We rode dirt bikes together a lot until he got into high school where he got into sports and soon didn't have much time to ride. Now he is married with a 1 1/2 year old daughter. He is still interested but does not ride. Maybe he'll get back into it someday.

my son likes my small scooter for dirt riding with his friends at the cottage,. he will likely ride more when he turn 60 stressed out with his job tower crane operator, and my grand son started as a tower crane operator last fall, he had a small scooter while in collage,. my oldest daughers husband has a gold wing , and they travel all over the world renting motorcycles they retired 3 years ago, if they ride to the east coast Im going with them, they live near Edmonton Alberta, ??? will my Piaggio b v 350 keep up to a gold wing, on the highway, as long as he does not do low flying,.

Eldest lad rides off road and trials, but can't afford the upkeep of a road bike so not really. Youngest daughter now asking for a 'crosser so she can go too...

After I typed it it dawned on me motocross but did not change my post. Did not know for sure if it was motocross or dual-sport bike or as we use to call them Enduro?

No, I was talking about motocross, but he’s now sold that and bought a trials bike - you know the seatless ones for slow speed work on obstacles?

I used to enjoy watching vids of those trials guys in the 60's & 70's...riding over logs in a creek, etc.
I imagine young riders now can ride 'em up the wall of a 2 story house, and hop from fence post to post backwards while doing a hand stand....antics like that lost my interest.
Can't relate to actual cycle riding.

Yes the trials hey day was probably the 60’s with the likes of Steve McQueen entering the ISDT. It’s all got a bit balletic since then.

My three sons and I have been riding "on and off" for over 40 years... right now it's mostly "off" but hopefully not for good. My middle son is the only one riding currently, and he has a great dual-sport (mostly dirt) 2-stroke Beta 300. I'm afraid the good 'ole days of riding together frequently are past, but he bought a great dirt bike for his son, so the tradition continues.
