Title: CLEP sends DCT 16 P0115 Engine temperature sensor fault - What to do?
Post by: GermanYager200i on June 18, 2020, 02:25:59 PM
Hello everyone,

excited to have found this forum. Already helped me out quite a bit.

I have a 2009 Kymco Yager GT200i with currently 38.000km on the clock.

I am receiving the DCT Code 16 (I think, it's one long flash followed by 6 short flashes)

According to the provided list by MotoRandy (https://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=10311.0 (https://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=10311.0)) it should be P0115 Engine temperature sensor fault

On top of that the CLEP starts flashing above 5.000rpm.

I already have an appointment with a Kymco dealer, but it's in two weeks.
Can I still ride without having to worry about damaging the engine?

Many thanks in advance!

Guessing here that ECU senses your temp sensor fault so it does not "know" what the temp is and flashes a caution so you may ride slowly to a safe place and fix the problem. ECU does not know the temperature so neither do you! Park it until the dealer can take it in.

Yager was my scooter before the Downtown. I loved the Yager and would still have it if my wife had not insisted I get a new one. No, REALLY! She DID!

To update on my specific case:

I brought it to the shop and it was just the sensor, which had to be cleaned. So I could've continued riding as well.

Thanks again for the help guys!

"Sensor cleaned"....well, I'll remember that. Didn't know you could clean these things.
Thanks for posting.
