Title: Honda AF16/18 BBK?
Post by: Sir_wankel on June 16, 2020, 02:37:47 PM
Hello everyone new to the forum! Wanting to do a BBK for my Super 9 AC. So I heard that some AF16/18 parts are interchangeable.

So my question is can I use the AF16/18 BBK and stroker crank upgrade on the Kymco engine? Or should I just settle for the 70cc kit?

The Dio BBks go up to 130cc heres the link

Nope.  Different engine.  The engine in the Super Fever/ZX50 is the Honda vertical cylinder design.  Super 9 engine is a horizontal cylinder design and 70cc is the practical limit.

Some Kymcos use the Chinese 50cc 4-stroke QMB-series engines, and these can use any Chinese QMB parts up to 50mm bore size, also any QMB-type crankshaft. Although these engines are labelled "SD10" on the crankcase, they're identical to "QMB" engines.  Not sure about the 2-strokes, though.

Thank you Joseph and Dan for clearing it up. Figured I should at least get a variator before I decide to go big bore.

Do you guys have any recommendations for good cheap variator kits? I've been looking at SSP-G and Polini kits. I'll probably go with some Dr. Pulley sliders too.

The variator won't make much differfence.  Polini isn't cheap, it's a European brand.
