Title: DT300i drive belt
Post by: CROSSBOLT on June 07, 2020, 11:09:46 PM
Checked ALL parts suppliers listed here and the ones that actually had a parts break-down for the DT listed $188.xx @ for the 23100-LEA7-E01 Drive belt (1004-24.5-30)!! That is DOUBLE from 2016! Well, not quite but 88 bucks more than before. Now I have always been an advocate of the OEM part for the belt since it was Mitsuboshi and very reliable.

Open for suggestions...even the obvious ones!

When I bought my 2019 XTown, I ordered a spare OEM drive belt to carry as spare---do not remember exact price but under $100----Noticed the other day when I ordered pick up contact for front ABS ring----price was either $40 or $60----when I figured out problem as not electronic, I had dealer send back as he already had some Kymco Parts going back.

Hope they have not raised their parts prices across the board.

Do belts for Kymco's other large scooters cost that much? I know they last awhile but that is a large sum to drop on maintenance. The Agility oem belt was 26$ and lasted 20,000 km.

This appears to match. I know shipping will take about 3 weeks as this is the seller I bought my agility belts from.

Based on over 400,000 miles of rubber band drive scooters use---only OEM belt regardless of cost!!  One broken belt on trip-----trip interruption costs money-----Getting run over if belt breaks running----getting run over ain't fun!.

Changing every 15,000 miles has worked for me.

Those are genuine belts. I have purchased several for different bikes and they are oem bando V-belts made in Taiwan for kymco.

A few months ago, I bought an oem belt from Taiwan. It was $82 shipped and about a three week ship time.  Anything already in the U.S. is twice the price.

Who in Taiwan and what was shipping? I am not in a hurry since only 11000 to 12000 miles are on the original...

You can get the Malossi Kevlar belt, made in Japan by Bando, for $90.

Really appreciate the replies! I have asked scooter parts to quote the dimensions to make sure. Has anyone actually used one of these in a DT300i or a People GTi300?

Got a reply from scooterparts.com about belt dimensions which they confirmed 1004-24.5-14.7(height)-30 which is what I have written in my original DT300i owner manual.

So now I have more than one source for a suitable replacement. Now must work on prying funds loose to get one!

If it works out for you Karl - please post your results under the DT300 heading and we'll make it a sticky for other owners.

Thanks, Stig

What is the contact listing for this supplier?

That is the same seller I bought the agility belts from. Reliable service and quality genuine products.

I purchased a Malossi belt from Scooterparts co a couple of months ago. I happened to measure it's width when it arrive and it's only 23.6mm wide. Below minimum spec. That's despite stating it should be 25.1mm.

I emailed Malossi twice to ask if the variance from spec is normal or anything to worry about, and they haven't replied. I won't be buying any of their parts again.

And this was supposed to be the right part?

Better to order directly from your local Kymco dealer and get right part.

I have stuck with genuine belts from Taiwan over Kevlar. The oem belt has outlasted a Gates belt at a much higher price.

Karl, if the numbers in the ebay photo of the Kymco bag look right - and with free shipping - I'd give the Asian seller a try.
If you want to help out your bricks/mortar store - send him 10 bucks anonymously.
I've done well over 1300 ebay transaction over 20 years - never a problem.

Yes, the correct part number and everything. All other measurements were fine and it fits on the bike. I've been using it for 1,000km now. But I'm not happy with the variance from spec in relation to the width and the lack of engagement from Malossi. I can't fault scooterparts.com, they were great to deal with and delivered promptly and it's not their issue.

This is the one I got Malossi belt (6115277). That's the code stamped on the actual belt.
These are the stated specs https://www.malossistore.eu/x-k-belt-for-maxi-scooter-252x147x1004-mm-30-kawasaki-j-300-ie-4t-lc-euro-3-ws60-6115277-kaj300-M-P (https://www.malossistore.eu/x-k-belt-for-maxi-scooter-252x147x1004-mm-30-kawasaki-j-300-ie-4t-lc-euro-3-ws60-6115277-kaj300-M-P)

Here's a link to a thread I made about it with a picture of the measurement. https://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=29412.0 (https://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=29412.0)
