I finally did it! Saw some of you here raving about Lucas petro products so I got a quart of their gear oil. Bottle doesn't even have graduations and a window stripe! Eight bucks and no sight glass! So got a measuring cup and a flavor injector out of the kitchen gadgets section of the store and changed the gearbox oil in the DT300i.
Now what should I expect? Anyone actually notice any difference? Have not ridden since the change but will ride Wednesday. Do I get mo' powa! Quieter gears? I'm old, half deaf, take the hearing aids out when I ride...will fair young maidens suddenly take an interest? What would I do if they did? I usta know that stuff...

I have used Lucas gear oil for a while and the gears may have gotten a little quieter but it was most likely just wearing in.

That old saying about Joseph Lucas still makes me smile Stuo. Coming from Birmingham, where the factory was, gives me the right I guess. Also reminds me how Brummies described BSA’s (another Birmingham product) as having a total loss lubrication system!
(BSA = Birmingham Small Arms, as they began life making & selling guns, hence the bike logo being a trio of rifles stacked.)

Please, no! They can't be, can they? What have I done! Shades of the Morris electrical systems with two fuses for the whole car! Nightmares of adjustable voltage regulators where a tiny fraction of turn 7 volts spikes to 30! My bike will never be the same! Woe!

My daughter will only eat the more expensive free range eggs. Humanitarian thing, which I applaud. She's young.
So, I buy the $.88/doz eggs, put them in the free range carton.

Crossbolt I guess the frugality of me just picked up the bottle of O'Reilly synthetic gear lube for $12.99. I do use Rotella T-6 for the engines in all my scooter's.

I'll whisper it on here Tom, but as a vegetarian I'll only eat free range eggs too. Fortunately the shop in the village where we live has a local free range egg supplier so they've had my business for years.
I also have a buddy who is a local farmer and who rears and slaughters his own open range grass fed beef. I have been known to recommend him to biker friends in the area and every one has said how good the meat is. Support your local businesses & suppliers! (I know you do!)

All the autoparts stores carry Lucas oil products around here and even Wallyworld.

Sorry, gave you wrong information it's 12.99 a quart for full synthetic.
