Hi everyone,
My throttle hand, thumb in particular, numbs after about 2 hours cruising in colder weather. I have been considering some throttle lock device just so I can get some blood flowing in my fingers every now and then. I have heard references to O-ring throttle locks on this forum and am curious of the general consensus to the safety and practicality of such a device.
I asked some others this question and was bluntly told I would die. Figured I'd ask the question in a group of like minded folk this time.
Any input is appreciated. I keep a beginners mind and am open to any education.

They work, do not lock throttle completely----see old Kawasaki Concours forum for CAT part number. My Kymco has one, other throttle stops like NEP will not work on my Kymco. Secret to hands and butt comfort, get off bike every 50 miles and walk around it----has worked for me for the past over 1.5 million miles!

I understand there are several methods of holding the throttle and was curious about the safety of having a non-return throttle. Not that riding cross-handed is much safer.

My hands used to numb after a time on a motorcycle, probably due to buzz in the handle bars (1 cyl., 3 cyl., 4 cyl., made no difference). I bought a pair of
Qui gloves which I'd say have been 90% effective). Of course my hands would numb some due to cold. Heated grips usually take care of this for me.
Regarding throttle locks...I've never used one but would not be afraid to try one. Like John said, most do not lock completely. The right size O-ring might just get the job done and maybe confirm the effectiveness of that type of device on your problem.

Been using one of those palm/ heel of hand things. OK but don't/won't/not supposed to hold throttle but it helps. John on the right track wit the yellow Cat o-ring. Holds it but easily over ridden. Easy to lose, too!
Some really nice ones machined but really expensive! Saw one on youtube made from big washers that was elegant, cheap and nearly invisible that could be put on the bar weight end of the throttle! Now, even I could make one of those!

That last one looks a really elegant solution! Much better than the plastic effort I used to use.

Thanks for all the tips! Just need something to allow me to move my hand. I would love heated gloves but the budget only allows for ski gloves.
