As a running or brake light the bar is an important part of my daily night rides.

When I stopped to take a snap of the moon the other morning, and applied the Broccoli brake - that LED bar lit up the road nicely

What's available for really small, really powerful front lights?

Here is what I bought for deer spotting on my early morning back road commute. It is actually a 45 watt LED and is about as bright as a good car high beam.

To completely hijack Stig's thread..the compact light bar for the front may be tempting especially for the side by side but not really suitable for either scooter or motorcycle.
Last year, I played with some substitute LED lamps for halogens in the DT. The beam patterns were unsuitable. Additionally, actual measurements with an ammeter proved the vendor was lying about nearly everything! The watts and lumens were not even close. They were returned for refund. The LED replacements have not seemed to improve.

With all cheap LED lights I have found, the wattage and subsequent lumen is based off the raw Diode wattage multiplied by the number of LED chips. As in that light is rated at 300 watts which means 100 3 watt chips. Actual draw however is about .28 watt per LED for reasonable electrical life.

That stands out much more than my stock brake light. It would probably massively increase visibility and safety.

My beef with front LED bars and pods is that they flood directly in front of the scooter, car, truck - only. Which is great for making your vehicle very, very visible to oncoming traffic or dumb pedestrians....but does next to nothing to project light far enough ahead to much improve things for safer night riding.
Nothing seems to beat a well designed headlight for casting a meaningful beam of light well ahead of the vehicle.
Also, those front LED bars are probably a nuisance to oncoming drivers.
A big 'ol RED flooded rump is a nice thing to have - not convinced flooding a few yards ahead with white light is.
I have installed a pair of low mounted Mercedes-like Philips LED bars in my wife's Scion - as DRL's (daytime running lights). They switch off when the headlights are on. They are wickedly effective as DRL's. I can pick out her car coming a 1/2 mile away.
LED bulbs installed into a headlight bucket which is not designed to focus their beam as intended - does not seem to be the answer either.
What does work quite well is a scooter built with more wattage in the headlight - or a headlight designed for an LED bulb (like the new LIKEs, 200i and 150i)
Just my take on front lighting.

I installed these Denali LED driving lights on my motorcycle over the winter. My main concern was being seen, as opposed to helping me see better - as i don't ride at night. Others report that they do provide a ton of additional light. They are ridiculously expensive, though.
