Title: Time to wake the hibernating 500 xciting's
Post by: Kansas kymco on March 28, 2020, 04:00:11 PM
Need to go to the storage facility and pull the battery tenders off and see if they will crank up after sitting since last Fall. The last warm Wednesday I took both 150's out for a ride as well as the 250 xciting. The 250 is FI so it started almost immediately, don't think I will be as lucky with the carbureted 500's.  Windy today but tomorrow is supposed to be nice  around 65F with little wind.

Well that went surprisingly well. After about four 15 seconds burst on the starter button (crank one bike then move to the next to avoid overheating the starter) both xciting's came to life. They both idled down like they were supposed to as well.

While I was at the storage facility anther person was getting his Yamaha motorcycle out of winter hibernation.

I took the Collies to McDonald's for a double stack hamburgers.  Did not get anything for myself for the celebration.   Hope the're right about it being 65F tomorrow and little wind.

I would entertain one of several 500 models offered at steal prices if I was not so satisfied with the DT300i. Several 500's on here for less than 2k US which is a "stolen" price!

I think the 300 I would do everything I need it to do. I purchased the 500's from a couple in Kansas City during a ice storm in January for a low ball offer. They had sat for a couple of years and needed the carburetors cleaned and the bikes serviced.
For the type of riding I do the 250 RI xciting does well.

If I were to purchase a new scooter it would be a 300I since the 550 model is not sold here

Yes, but the REAL 300i is not made anymore! You know, 4 valves, roller cam, EFI, 298 cc! Other than the 49 cc 50, the 300i is just about the only HONEST model number!

Well the ride went great, a quick stop by the house to check tire pressure. After sitting all winter the Michelin Tires still had the correct tire pressure.  I took about a hour long ride.

Later this week I will take the other 500 for a ride down to the dealer about 20 miles away, don't know if they will be open but it will be a nice ride.
