I find amazing given the open hatred between mainland China and Taiwan that Kymco would even consider producing ANYTHING there!

Business is Business.  Look at the US/ China relationship.  If China gets to expensive they will move manufacturers to another third world country.  Look at how much clothing we purchase from Vietnam.  Look at all the Cars and bikes imported from Germany.  Ideology gets put on the back burner for profits.  Look how dependent we became on Japan in the sixties. 

The countries that practice isolation get left behind .

In fact if you look at Kymco they started by  manufacturering parts for Honda of Japan in 62 despite how the Chinese treated Japanese in history.
