I can recommend this "ULTRA WARM" turtelneck.
Thin, and comfortable base layer for very cold rides. I have removed a layer or two of bulk now that I start my layers with this shirt. Balaclava first, then this high-neck shirt over it - works well to keep my neck warm. No idea how it works - but it does.

So where did you get the turtleneck? Stores east and west coasts, nothing listed in between....

Purchased directly from the site - choose color and size, "Add it to your bag" and then check out and pay.

Stig, my HeatTech base layer arrived in the post this morning. Haven't used it on the scooter yet (raining again), but walked the dogs in freezing temperatures this morning wearing it. Very promising as I had to unzip my top layer as I was too damned hot!

Yeah, don't know that I'd try to wear during even moderate activities. When having coffee at my sidewalk table watching a winter sunrise - I'll have to unzip my top layers unless it's below freezing.
I don't know how it works -- but it does.

It does. Out for an hour on the XT yesterday at around 5c and very impressed with the shirt which kept me toasty with no heated gear at all. Money well spent.
