Title: How much does your winter gear weigh?
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on February 24, 2020, 02:51:51 PM
I checked after I arrived home this morning from a 3 hour, 33°F outing on my LIKE200i.

a little over 29lbs...on a 6'3", 268 lb rider.
(so, in the winter my scooter thinks there is an Asian family aboard)

What does your gear consist of that adds up to 29 lbs?

Yeah, I know right?
I think most of it is in the size 14 boots, XXXXXL lined leather D-3 armored ICON, XXXXXXL lined Occu-Nomex over-jacket, and the "large shell" XXX Nolan modular helmet. (D-3 armored riding pants worn under rain pants, battery gloves worn under large leather gauntlets....and $3 for coffee & tip)
And, yeah, that's the correct number of X's on my chest & head. I freq. have little Korean cars drafting behind me.

Actually - If I'm stationary too long I start getting hot since I added this new "Ultra Warm" version of the HEATTECH turtle neck that I found last fall....goes on over the balaclava.

On a related note it's supposed to get to the low 60's this weekend.

Stig

like you, I weigh in at 265± and 300± geared up,   either way, more than my K-Pipe is designed for

I use a base layer, heated liner, 700 down puffer, textile windproof motorcycle jacket, and reflective vest. Without heat, its good to the high 40's. With power, the heated liner makes the combo good to the 20's.
