Title: Soldering and drilling jets
Post by: Peters on September 21, 2010, 04:45:54 AM
Why didn't you guys tell me soldering and drilling jets was so easy? ;) I found a trick using an old soldering iron with the tip taken out. I put the soldering iron in a vise pointing strait up, placed the jet in the end, let it heat up, and carefully filled the hole with solder very easily.

I went too big with the jet after I put the pipe on. I had to pull the air filter off to get home the next day it just wanted to sputter when I'd twist the throttle. Its been sitting for about a month. Started to miss it.

Just redrilled it tonight and is still rich but better. Right now I am more concerned about raising the needle as it still sputters on take off after idleing for a while. I cant seem to pull the needle out of the plastic retainer. Im so scared im gonna break it.

Damn good idea with taking the tip out of the soldering iron. If it is the stock carb, I wouldnt bother trying to adjust the needle, I had no luck and I believe wordslinger put his back to stock as that was its best.

Take some needlenose plyerers to the cap push and twist counter clockwise. the needle will come right out. There is not alot of room to adjust, try a beer can shim cut to fit around the needle. Dont loose the spring !  ;D
