Scooters - 125 to 300 => Downtown 300 => Topic started by: greglou617 on January 19, 2020, 11:46:18 AM

Hello! I’m so glad I found this forum!
So I found a 2011 Downtown 300i with 20,000 miles on it, and I talked the gentleman down to $1500 from his asking of $1750. I have all the questions!
Is that considered high miles for a scooter like that?
Should I have it serviced right away to see if the owner kept up properly? Is that a good deal?
My thinking is that even if it only lasts another 20k, it’s worth the money, at that price. In the best case scenario, how long do these things last? Thanks in advance!

If the maintenance has been done than not a lot, although 1500.00 is in line with what he can get best case.

I would pay $1000-----bike is not new and probably needs at least new drive belt and tires. Nice if seller has maint. history.

Ask seller about his servicing...or ask permission to call his dealer for the same.
Discover what a major service will cost if no record exists....and deduct that from asking price....or at least be aware how much more you'll have to spend. Could be more than you'd like!

I am on my second DT300i the first was stolen and wrecked at 22000 miles. Before the theives destroyed it, it ran perfectly! 20000 miles with good maintenance is low mileage, in my opinion for that model. With poor or no maintenance could be a problem. That mileage for 9 years indicates a lot of sitting which also could be a problem.

I bought a 2013 with 7800 miles for $1400 two months ago.
