Title: Ear plugs

Just ordered another box of the yellow foam 3M ear plugs. eBay. Fifty 2-packs for @$10, fast/free shipping.
 Last box lasted me 7 years. I wear them on every ride. And if I  forget, I pull over and put them in (keep some in jacket pockets and in the scooter)
Have enough age related hearing loss - very protective of what I have remaining.
I've no problem riding in traffic with them.

Foam never worked well for me.  Funky ears I guess.  Walgreens has some with a tapered series of flaps, 2 pair per box.  Quite a bit more expensive than foam plugs but they do the job.  And they're a lot let expensive than the custom-made molded jobs a bike events.

I buy foam plugs from Industrial Supply store---by the box, 200 pair---about $28 per box, Howard Leight "Laser lite".  At 80 and over 1.5 million 2 wheel miles, still have my hearing.

Trick to foam=grease ear inner channel---roll tip of plug up, follow instructions of pulling upper ear up.

Long trip 400 miles or so in day I go thru 2 or 3 pr.   Note:  at 400 miles my ears hurt from plugs....and I am tired. So I quit.

Thanks for the tip on using foam plugs.  Good to know.  I just slobber all over my Walgreens flappers.  Seems to work okay for me.  Either way, though, I'll always wear ear plugs.  It has made for much more relaxing rides over the years.

I'm also a big believer in wearing ear plugs while riding (and mowing, trimming, etc.). Once in a while I will forget the plugs and get out on the road and immediately wonder what in the heck is all that d*mn noise!? The wind, exhaust and mechanical noise is really, really loud when you're used to wearing ear plugs.

Yep- sometimes when I'm heading home I forget the ear plugs. I pull over pretty darn quick and put 'em in!

Been there, done that and thought the exact same thing!
