Title: Someone gave me an 02 people 50 2t
Post by: Enso on October 01, 2019, 01:33:22 PM: Hi there, I'm new to scooters,2 stroke engines and carburetors. Long story short someone gave me a 2002 people 50 2t. All the plastics were smashed and it was in non running condition with 9k miles on it. So I repaired all the plastic body panels, repaired the wiring harness where it had been chewed through by mice, rebuilt and rejeted the carb to an 85 main jet, installed a 70cc big bore kit from naraku and now it's a fun little ride.

Post by: Ricfratt on May 01, 2020, 12:14:16 AM: Nice. I'm in same boat, someone gave me 2 People 50's (2004 & 2005), in good cosmetic condition but not running. Guy said he cleaned out one of the carbs but couldn't get it to fire. I messed with it for a day and got spark and fuel but no luck. Checked compression and it was way low (75 psi) so guess I'm going to rebuild the top end. Hope that's all it take.

I'm installing a Polini 70cc kit right now on a 2004 People50 2t. Did you keep the stock exhaust and carburetor, just jetting up to 85? Im trying to figure out what to jet to.

I hope to use stock 14mm Kehin carb, stock exhaust, and stock airbox (with the snorkel removed).

Did you also have to raise the needle (lower the clip) some?

Found my free People 50 on LetGo. Had to drive about an hour and a half to pick it up, but hoping it will be worth it. Lower panels and inner leg guard are very badly deteriorated - looks like UV damage? Florida sun can be harsh on things left outside. So far just general cleanup. Drained old gas and oil. Need to buy new battery and plug, clean carb and then I will attempt to fire it up. I am sure I will need much help from this forum!!!
