No, should do at least 90mph (on the speedo 100mph).
What rpm do you have? It should reach the 8000+ area.

i'am using an improvised simota air filter works better than stock. Fastest so far i've done was 183kph or 185kph indicated.  have not yet fixed the carb yat and not yet installed dr. Pulley sliders. Will try  to take some vids and post it here.

lol wordslinger! wonder what would the top speed with a much shorter and lighter rider.

stock pulley can reach 8.4k rpm not sure if the malossi can too. it only reached 8k but when i checked the pulley a few mm still left on the drive face.

i saw on 1 site ther in the us that they sell racing cams for the mxu 500. will it fit our x500?

Man.... fastes ive had mine is 85mph and got scared!!! LOL Still throttle left though!

Mine ran out of steam at 90MPH pushing that tall Givi windshield.  Would most likely do better with the little stock windshield.  But the extra wind protection is worth it.  I rarely find the need to go that fast.  :D

can't wait for them 24g sliders to arrive. Hopefully it will add more to my top speed. Hopefully! To expensive to modify it and any wrong modifications on it is irrepairable or maybe i should just loose some(a lot) of weight

has anyone tried to unplug the TPS? Tried it before but did not notice any difference or is it just that my carb had problems. Only thing that happened is it backfired when you let go of the gas.

..for that to be effective you might have to increase exhaust flow...

what to adjust? exhaust valve clearance? i'm already using a leo vince pipe.

btw it also backfires a few secs after turnning the engine off.

...hmm..i dunno, i was speculating...but since you got that exhaust........

I was reading a lot of different manuals today. I don't recall which one I read this from, sorry, but, it may apply to any model. Anyway, for what it's worth it said possible causes for:

Backfiring at deceleration
>Lean mixture in idle system
>Improper air cut off valve operation

Don't know if that has anything to do with TPS, though. (What's a TPS? LOL)

So there was nothing left inside your exhaust? Somewhat of a straight pipe type setup? Seems odd to run smooth but have that annoying side effect.

I did read somewhere else on here about another person with this "PFFT." Don't think there was a resolution listed, though...

..yeah!!...Just like that!!..lol..

So there was nothing left inside your exhaust?

..oh yeah, there is still the baffleing...the cat wasn't restrictive anyway...

Did you throw it away or keep it?

Or did it break apart when you removed it?
Title: Re: top speed
Post by: wordslinger on October 24, 2010, 12:31:36 AM
..i kept it..
Title: Re: top speed
Post by: Rianna on October 24, 2010, 12:37:01 AM
Can you put it back in to see if the "PFFT" goes away?  :D
Title: Re: top speed
Post by: wordslinger on October 24, 2010, 01:06:15 AM
...nope...

..ain't even worth the trouble...

..scoot aint runnning anyway...
Title: Re: top speed
Post by: Rianna on October 24, 2010, 01:13:50 AM
Maybe the noise wasn't about the exhaust, but an early indication of whatever made it quit running.

Sorry.

Post by: wordslinger on October 24, 2010, 01:16:32 AM
..the pfft...lol..started the very first firing  after i removed the cat...a year or so ago...
Title: Re: top speed
Post by: Rianna on October 24, 2010, 01:20:05 AM
That is just too weird! I can't figure it out.

You sure something didn't fall out of the cat and get stuck somewhere in the baffling?

Title: Re: top speed

..no..the pipe was just not able to process the exhaust in the manner that it was engineered...
