Only more noise with 4stroke. ::)
Unpredictable with 2stroke (must really match with the engine to have a positive effect).

..well an open exhaust, from my prsonal experience, does INDEED make a difference in a 4t...

..i drilled holes in my oem pipe, along with a free-flow air filter and proper re-jetting of the carburetor, i'd say it's the only way to roll!!!

..and it's true, you must match the pipe with a 2t's capabilities...

..but on a 4t, any increase in air flow through the engine is a major plus!!

..i would not suggest installing an aftermarket exhaust without also installing a free-flow air filter...

..doing so makes your scoot extremely difficult to tune....

peace

Yep i'd mod your stock pipe first.(few holes) The 4t pipes are over priced. spend the rest on tuning carb, airbox and veriator

The Prima pipe that I got for my 4t (custom cut) is awesome.  I got it for less than the cost of a hand made LeoVince and I think it looks/performs outstanding.  I was able to get a better top end and the acceleration band is much more responsive.  Major improvement I would say.

Looks like the one on my GS500. :D
So I guess if you open the exhaust on a four stroke and not increase the input, hi flow filter, that would upset the balance? Nothing major with a larger engine, but noticable on these little ones?

Iv'e found the 4t is tuned a little tighter than the 2t's so unless engineered from the start It's a little harder to dial in from a backyard approach (not impossible  :D ) But you seem to get more out of small changes. The 2t's are a little more forgiving if you jump too much at once.
I think opening a 4t exhaust Is the first thing you want to do then tune to it. I'd love to have that pipe but trying to keep the cost down at this point. At $400 plus for a hand made, not in this budget  ;)
I think you could get away with  just the exhaust change and slight mods. It just seems a little more delicate. As with all more air more gas and a way to get it out of there. If going for a monster I think valves and head are the way to go.
