I thought I would do a how to for the body panel removal. I have had a look through the manual and think it is a little vague at best. I will include photos to help. If I have got anything wrong or have missed anything, please feel free to correct me.
As there are quite a few pics to go with this, I will log it in several posts.
Tools required:
No.2 Phillips screwdriver, 6mm Allen key, 10mm socket.
Remove the screw under the front of the seat, open the seat and remove the two bolts and two nuts holding the carrier rack, remove the oil bottle cap and rubber seal, remove the two bolts in the bottom of the met~in box. The met~in box can now be removed with the seat attached.

Picture of the rack bolts.

Remove the two screws and two nuts holding the rear section on below the tail light, then remove the rear section, unplugging the indicator lights. Then remove the two screws on the corners that hold the body panel to the tail light mount.
-
Remove the battery cover, lift the rear corners of the floor mat and remove the two bolts holding the body panel to the floor.
-
Disconnect the seat latch cable. The body panel is now ready to be removed, be careful when unclipping the plastic panels from the side rails. Installation is a reverse of removal, being sure to reconnect the seat latch cable. Hope this helps, I think the manual is not very clear.

How, exactly, do you disconnect the seat latch cable?
-
Pull the cable casing out of the bracket and then turn the inner cable to the rear and slide the ball out of the lever.
-
righty o then. i've always just left this panel hanging, but it'll be good to have it removed when i do the top end rebuild.

Very grateful & thank you for posting this!
However I couldn't remove the indicator connection until I took out the side /back panel screws.
Doesn't matter, I got there in the end.
cheers
