Title: just got a like 200i
Post by: jaye50 on August 12, 2019, 05:19:57 PM
hi guys... i'm new here and i'll eventually  have a lot of questions... lol... but right now i just want to show you guys this 2012 kymco like 200i i just bought for $150... it had been woefully mistreated... it really looked like crap... but when i cranked it i heard no major issues... these two pics are what it looked like when i got it... and what it looked like after i cleaned it up and changed the fluids... and this thing flies... any suggestions as to what other steps i should take... i've scheduled a valve adjustment for later in the week... anything else?

Hello and welcome there fellow LIKE200I owner!
Keep try on the pix - sure like to see them.
7 yr old scoot will need, gear oil, engine oil, brake fluid change. Yeah, valves checked. New air filter, spark plug. Probably need new tires and belt.
Since you can get it flying - you're well ahead of everyone who bought a $150 scooter...!
Do you know service history of the scooter?
Stig

hi... thanks for answering... i have no idea of the service record or any maintenance history... it really looked bad when i got it... put a battery in it and cranked it yesterday and it fired right up... checked the fluids and changed them... fired it up and rode to the mailbox with no problem... much pep... brought it back and cleaned it and parked it for the night... got up this morning and it won't crank... i'm going to take it to the pros... let them go over it... whatever they charge i should still be to the good... the fairings are worth more than $150... lol

i coach college basketball and we've got a meeting today... after the meeting going to walmart and get some naugahyde... going to get my heatgun and staplegun and see what i can do about that seat...

Rebuilt and recovered my LIKE seat using Sailrite 4way stretch vinyl. ...made for doing motorcycle seats. They have a yutube video.

The pros? You be better off to take it to the kids in auto shop! You put that sun-eaten seat on a new bike! Really? That is wonderful! Well, welcome to the nutfarm! We be all spring loaded to help if the "pros" can't hack it!

we're just starting basketball season and i'm not really going to have the time to troubleshoot it... i'm sure i don't have to tell you guys how time consuming troubleshooting a scoot cranking problem can be... and all of my previous experience is with chinese gy6's... this is my first kymco... there's a honda shop next town over that services kymco's... i think i'll let them take a look....

i had a chance 6 months ago to buy a pristine 2012 people 150 for $750.... i kept waffling until someone else bought it... now i know why... this mistreated baby was waiting for me...
