Title: Charging Issue - battery voltage reads 16.8V??
Post by: Ed63 on August 08, 2019, 02:18:36 AM
My 2009 GV 250 starts and runs when the battery is fully charged, then a day or two later, won't turn over.  Battery load tested at 200 cca and showed 12.8V after charge.

I started it, warmed it to two bars, and checked the voltage at the battery.  It read 16.8V!

I'm thinking bad voltage regulator.

Anyone else experience this?  Would appreciate your thoughts.

Rather don't run the engine. That voltage will kill the battery.
Voltage regulators are cheap -  a new one should solve the problem.

Thank you!

I figured the voltage was too high.  Just never experienced this before.  Always thought a bad regulator meant not enough voltage rather than too much.
I appreciate your response.
