So last night I got off work , and i went to start my moped. They key went into the ignition fine and dandy, but wouldn't turn. So i figured maybe a sterling lock? I've the scooter maybe 2 months. its a 2019, 2000km on it. Anyways, the key broke off into the ignition switch. about 3/4 of the key is in there. Any suggestions? I can always take it to the place i got it, but i do have a spare so if i can avoid the bill please!!!

Needle nosed pliers and pull it out? Tweezers?
REAL strong magnet to wiggle it up for the pliers ?

couldn't find anything small enough, will attempt gain tomorrow. What causes the ignition to lock like that? so i can avoid the issue from happening again.

Are the handle bars turned far to the side?
If so, steering lock may be engaged. Wiggle bars gently while wiggling key gently to free the lock.
Gently!
Owner's manual will tell you if there is a special procedure for this .....like pushing in on key while turning....or some other method.
Well, no harm done once key is out (get a spare or two made promptly!)....plus you've learned what not to do in future😊
