Title: Loose throttle cable People 250
Post by: Packrat1 on August 03, 2019, 12:46:04 AM
I’m getting slack in my throttle cable is it best to tighten at the twist grip or down at the carb? Because it’s loose, it’s affecting the low idle due to the slack. Once I turn the throttle and take out the slack it runs great. Hoping I can adjust rather than having to buy a new cable.

How much slack? When you say twist the throttle and take out the slack it runs better, do you mean the idle speeds up to a proper smooth idle sound?

Yes idle speeds up to proper idle level when I take out the slack in cable by twisting throttle.

It's always been my understanding that minor throttle cable adjustments are made at the throttle and bigger adjustments are made at the carb.  Might also need the idle adjustment screw adjusted.
