Title: 2019 XTown 300i ABS under seat light
Post by: john grinsel on July 31, 2019, 03:33:31 PM
This bike is my 11th maxi  scooter new----it surely has the best underseat lighting/switching BUT....do I trust the switch? Not really.  Just taped the controlling light/sensor with duct tape to be sure.  I do not need light anyway and carry flashlite for things I really want to see.

Remembering with scooter that cannot be bump started/kick started---I like to have the battery doing as little work as possible.  Ride alone in some weird places and hate to walk.

I don't trust it either. It works better than older switch-activated latch but there is always a constant parasitic current draw from the battery.

Guess Duct tape does not work on light sensor---seat up today, moved hand light came on!  Removed tape, next time the box is out may disconnect wires.

The sensor relies on infrared reflection from the seat latch to turn off. So it might be better to use tape combined with something reflective such as foil or glossy paper.

New try today---three layers of black tape---so far keeps light off.

Real solution is next time box is out, disconnect wires.
