Hi guys i just bought the Kymco downtown 300i , drove out of shop 5 minutes up the road the battery light came on pulled over and called shop they told me to bring it back . Tried to start it but would not start got it towed back to shop[ they tested it and put a new battery in . Everything fine but now the battery light comes on intermiterly , i ride to work in the morning all good till i get to the city light comes on ? i ride home nothing comes on ?
what the hell is going on ?

What year model, how many miles? Could be a loose connection, could be regulator-rectifier or stator. It is defective and needs repair. Your seller going to fix it?

When the battery light comes on, it means that there battery voltage has dropped below 12 volts. At idle the charging output is the weakest (due to low rpm) so this is when the battery voltage is the lowest. When the headlights are on this will make the voltage drop worse.

In summary either the battery or regulator are faulty and need to be replaced.

Some specs for battery voltage:

Off 12.6-12.8V
Idle ~13.0V
4000rpm 14.0-15.0V

Unrelated topic... it appears that only the downtown 300i is available in the USA?  No 350i / 400i?

I can't seem to find it on the US site, so unfortunately not :(
