Title: Is there a starter relay in this scooter?
Post by: frogseatflies on June 06, 2019, 03:03:00 AM
I know there's a starter solenoid, but is there also a starter relay?  And if so, where is it located?

Well, there is a starter RELAY, no solenoid in the automotive sense. The relay is usually found on the machine right, mounted on the frame about where your backside ends while sitting on the seat.

The service manuals are causing a lot of confusion. All scooters come with “external Solenoids”. Some scooter solenoids clearly come with a relay atttached to the starter solenoids. Some scooters come with Solenoids, without an attached Relay - like my Agility 125. No matter what the scooters come with - the Service Manuals / distrubutors call it “Relays” - which is incorrect in some cases.
I think the bigger scooters might come with relays attached to the solenoids - but I might be wrong. My Agility definitaly does not have a starter relay - it only has a solenoid.

If your scooter’s starter Solenoid came without an attached Relay, your scooter has a starter Solenoid - unless a seperate Relay has been installed elsewhere.
