Title: 2019 People S150 Valve Clearance Adjustment
Post by: envirojay on May 23, 2019, 07:33:14 AM
So I just bought the scooter about a month ago and I took it in for the first 1000 km service.  I noticed in the manual it says you should adjust the valve clearance for this service.  I don't think the dealer did this.  They never opened up the engine.  I should have not paid them the $150 to simply check stuff and change the oil what a rip-off.   Does anyone know what the valve clearence is suppose to be on the People S150  I want to just do it myself.  Thanks for the help.

Darn few dealers will do a valve check at 600 miles, unless: 1) it is hard to start or making an unusual noise.
Or 2) owner asks for it and agrees to the added charge.
$150 for that 600 mile service is probably in line with other dealers.
(My dealer WAS going to look at the 600 mile valves...for $380. I still bought the Kymco and became real motivated to learn scooter maintenance! I'm not clever - but this stuff ain't Moon Shots, either.
A whole lot of scooter owners never get the valves checked during their ownership.

My OCD compels me to check 'em....!
Regarding the valve specs - in the USA there is a sticker on the seat bucket with that kind of info... Unless something has changed?
My last 4 scooters had this sticker with the info.
Piaggio engineer in NYC home office, told me that the sticker info supercedes all other printed sources!

Thanks for the information.  I am in Australia so hopefully the information is on the seat here as well.  I will let you know how it goes.  Cheers.

can't help with your particular motor but for reference my 2010 S200 (163cc engine) has valve clearances of .10mm / .004" for both intake and exhaust. I checked my valves a few years ago when I bought the scoot (1800 miles on it) and both were perfectly within spec.

Hmmm...just looked at my service manual and it says .12 mm for clearances for both my S200 and the S125 (this is from 2010)...

I just bought a 2018 People s150 and wondered the same thing, whats the gap for the valves.I did the first service myself, changed oils in engine and final drive, thats pretty much it.The dealer who sold the bike originally said he would send me info about servicing but I never got it.I rang Kymco in Melbourne in the support section and he said the same thing"i will send you the info".It never came,so I still dont know what the valve gap is.Have you had any luck?

I realize this is an old thread, but I wanted to put it in for reference as the vnumber posted in my seat bucket was so different, although my people 150 is from 2009.  Anyway, the value for mine is .06mm +- .02mm

@bosticer, welcome here!

This sticker is WRONG!!
INSTEAD  of mm has to be INCH there!!
If you tap your valves with that little clearance than  brokes valves are quaranted!

Do not believe everything what KYMCO prints and unqualified people say or write.

I posted the picture of it, although with my luck, maybe it didn’t upload correctly.
