Thanks, sid! I can't stop grinning. I haven't even ridden it yet. It was already dark and kind of late. It was a long day just getting it and getting it here. I need to carry my tired butt to bed. It's terrible, though, I feel like a little kid. I gotta keep lookin' at it. Checking out this and that and reading all the part numbers and the stickers. LOL. My neighbors probably think I'm paranoid or silly bringing it indoors. I just had to stare at it some more. It's got 552 miles on it and looks nice. It's bigger than I thought it would be. I had only seen pictures on the internet before. They told me it's already de-restricted. We got down there just as they were closing so there wasn't much time for questions. Maybe tomorrow I'll take a look and try to see what's what.

Yeah, art, I got the Agility. The Super 9 guy told me he was bringing it to me the next day, then in the morning he had emailed that he had sold it. My son said I never should have asked him if the engine numbers matched the one in the 2004 - 2005 recall because he probably realized that he could get a new engine put in it and then decided to keep it for himself or sell it for more. lol. Live and learn. The newer Agility is probably the better suited one for a first scooter for me anyway. It looks like it might rain here today, too. I plan on trying to get a helmet tomorrow after my dentist appointment. Then I have to take it downtown to the police station to register it and let them put a plate on it. I'm hoping by Friday or the weekend I can get some decent riding time in. I had a bid in for a nice used helmet on the shopgoodwill site for about $22 including the shipping, but somebody outbid me by $2 and I didn't get home before the auction ended. It's tough because I've got about $140 left for the month now and I haven't gotten groceries yet. Maybe I can find someone I can borrow one from for about three weeks. haha
It has lights, both in front and rear.
Lol...If I hadn't been so tired from the trip I was actually thinking the same thing. The college parking lot a few blocks away is plenty lit up and long enough for a little riding and checking things out, but it was packed last night anyway.
Funny thing, my little chihuahua dog is afraid of it and wouldn't sleep in the living room in her favorite spot last night. She has never in 2 years slept in the bed with me because she doesn't care much for the movement of the water bed, but last night, I couldn't get rid of her and she was in the center of the bed trying to take up the whole thing. I would get up and take her to the living room and she would beat me back to the bed before I got there.

That's funny! You tell her to move over and make room for ya? I live in a nice area, but I still can't see leaving it outdoors. I've owned a ton of (used) cars. With the exception of the 16 passenger van, I believe I spent more on the bike than I ever did on any car. I don't think it will be out of my sight for awhile. I'll probably be nervous leaving it in a parking lot to go in a store and such. :D
After a week or so of folks saying they could do it then backing out or changing their minds and knocking on neighbors doors and getting ridiculous quotes for $600 from transport companies, I checked into Ushp and Mapdispatch and such. What a frustrating experience those proved to be. I began emailng every single ad I could find on Craigslist in my area and the Richmond dealership's area and a fella emailed me back yesterday with a phone number. So I called him. Turns out he is one town over and only a few miles away from me. He said if he got his vehicle back from the shop putting a new exhaust on in time he would call me and we could do it that day or today. A couple hours later he called back and said we were set. I was thrilled.
He was great. He came and picked me up. He showed up in this awesome humongous new cargo van with a lift deal on it. I literally had to climb up in. It was nice and he said it was his smaller tires. lol. I can't picture the big ones! Folks stared at it and asked about it when we stopped for diesel. He had all the straps and such that was needed and knew what he was doing. I don't think that bike moved an inch all the way home, not even on the stretch where he decided to take an interstate route part of the way and did 70mph the whole time. All for $100 bucks. He surely deserved more than I could afford to pay him for it. We chatted the whole way about the roads, scenery, landmarks, foods and such in different states and places and he told me some about his time in South America and Hawaii. Other than my nervousness about getting to the dealer right at closing time it was a pleasant and enjoyable experience. He goes all over too, not just here, so if anybody ever has a need shoot me a pm and I'll give you his info how to reach him. I hope to never lose that phone number. ;D
Thanks all! I'm gonna see if I can scrounge up some tools and make it sure everything is tightened up and all and maybe check out what numbers are on that carb. It's got weird tires on it, never heard of 'em before...Yup, I'm like a little kid with a shiny new toy, gotta check it all out. ;D

It probably smells bad to doggie. Engines always give off a slight gas and oil smell no matter how tight they are cause there are vents in them just for that purpose. Really not a good idea to keep it inside in the living space but I completely understand!

I will likely rearrange and place it in another room away from doggie's space...so we can both get sleep. Maybe on some cardboard in the kitchen or something. As tired as I was last night I was happy just to get it in the door. I always thought my door frame was very wide until last night. And since the tires were relatively clean I didn't think it would hurt the carpeting. I never thought about the smell before. Those little ones do have sensitive ears and noses and all. Thank you.

I picked up a Kylin 3/4 face helmet off ebay for twenty bucks new in box. Has a nice broad sun visor and moveable face shield. Light as any helmet I've ever worn. Came from a Texas location quick to Georgia.

Thank you. That superstore had some nice ones. I think I will check eBay, too. I doubt I can wait three weeks 'til payday rolls around again to buy an expensive one. I guess if I have to wait I will, but damn, ain't it a shame to finally have some wheels and not be able to use them?!! When I was looking for some tools (which always seem to hide when I want them) I found a few cases of this abro grey 999 gasket maker stuff for imported car engines. It was leftover from my flea market days. I think it's like $9 a tube or something. Most folks that bought it would buy a case of 12. So I put them up on Craigslist for 3 bucks each or $25 for a case of 12. I don't really know much about it but maybe one of the folks that restore old cars will decide they could use some. Who knows. Would cover the cost of a half decent helmet if someone wanted all four. I reckon I could sell my Pink Lazy-Boy Recliner for a few bucks. hahaha
LOL @ blue about the pics of my new furniture. I guess I just thought everybody here had already seen one and knew what they looked like. I will try to post a pic or two tomorrow. I'm gonna have to take them outside. I parked it in the kitchen tonight and there's not much room to walk around. I just couldn't get all of it in the picture.

Hey, I just noticed this helmet. Think it's any good? I don't see the DOT approved on the stickers, but I think it is. I wasn't actually looking for white, but they say beggars can't be choosers, right.

Thanks, art! I snagged that one. The fella up the street saw me coming back from the dentist today and gave me one I can use in the meantime. It doesn't have a size in it, but the one I bid on and won says Medium. That should tell me whether to go up or down in size when I go to get a new one. I'm happy as can be now. Been scootin' up and down the street all evenin'. :D

That's right. Had my first taste of fun, now I'm determined.
Ha! Nah, no wheelies yet. Worked mostly with curves and turns and speed today. Can't go but so fast down here. It's not posted but everyone (but me, ;D) drives only one way. Lots of blind curves and such. I put on about 7 miles, but just up and down on my one lane street. Will be easier tomorrow in the daytime, when everybody is at work and no traffic. I think I talked to someone from each of the 8 or 9 houses on my street today. It must be an attention getter.
It's taking me some time to get used to it because I feel like I'm too short for it. I'm (almost) 5'4". That's not extremely short, but my feet won't sit flat on the ground. One or the other could if I lean the bike, but not both at the same time. Slightly more than toes touching. I'll never get the benefit from that neat little backrest. lol. I have to sit way up at the front of the seat, so when I stop I will be able to lean the scoot one way or the other a little around my leg to set a foot flat on the ground. I don't know if I explained that right. It's like my knees are almost directly under the handle bars. Not real comfy. I feel like if I had one or two more inches on the bottom of my shoe it would be much more comfortable and easier for me. I wonder if there are shoes or even boots like that, where the whole bottom sole is bigger, not just a heel. There should be some kind of easy solution.
Near one end of our street, there's a nice little house for sale with a small horseshoe type driveway, it's kind of on a hill. (It's all hills down here, lol.) First time I pulled in there and came up the hill and pulled out the other side and turned right into the street without slowing to a stop or putting my foot down I was like, Whoa, did I do that? This is too cool. ;D

Disco platforms.:) I am 5'9 and on my zx50 I can't put my feet flat, only toes each side. You do get used to it and dont even think about it. You will be amazed in about a month from now, just how far you have come.

Ahh...now I see what you mean. No worries, axy, ain't nobody gettin' near my scoot uninvited right now. And if'n they try I might have to break bad and attempt to hurt them. LOL.
I tried googling Disco Platforms in the Shopping section, sid, but only got a bunch of pics with really high heels. I doubt I'd be good with heels. Maybe I'll try google's images later this evening. Yesterday I put my sneaks down in some oil where cars park along the side of the road when I stopped to talk to someone and I regretted it. Was slicker than I don't know what. Kept scraping my shoe on the pavement to try and get it off. lol. May want to look at something with slip resistance like restaurant or construction workers wear as well as a taller sole.

Yes, you must be ever mindful where you put your foot down. When parking in car parks, always look and make sure you dont put your wheel in an oil patch. The traction from motorcycle tyres is amazing, but that can be brought undone by some oil.

And I think he said something about not always trying to look behind to see what everybody else is doing. Like if somebody is gonna pass, just let 'em and keep looking straight ahead. It reminded of learning to drive a car as a youngster, I was told to flip that rear view mirror up and not even worry about it or the people behind me at first.
All tips are appreciated. Ya never know what situation you might find yourself in and I might just remember the right thing at the right time when the unexpected happens.

This is a bad advice.
Very often, you will encounter idiots driving behind you who DO NOT REALIZE you have stopped and you are letting incoming traffic pass so you can turn left.
When turning left I look at the mirror to guess the speed of the vehicle behind me and turn left blinker well in advance.
A few times I realized there is a moron behind who will not stop, so I gave up on the idea of turning left.
Also, if you are driving in crowded urban areas like I do, you will often have cagers trying to do various idiot moves, and sometimes even scoots or bikes trying to overtake you from RIGHT side.
So, I am checking my rear view mirrors all the time.
If you are checking gauges or mirrors, it does not mean you have to completely forget what is going on ahead of you...

..you can adjust the rear shock, and it might sit a bit lower for y'...
..need to be comfortable when coming to a stop..

Thanks, wordslinger! May have to check into adjusting that shock then. As it is now, I pretty much have to come off of the seat when I stop. Add to that the fact that I can't lift the back of the bike using both hands and I'm just too short and too weak for the Agility. I gave up on that center stand altogether, lol. I may actually build up a bit of muscle pushing it up to the road every day, though. I'm not giving up. Just gonna have to find ways to make it work. Other than the comfort factor (or lack of) I'm loving it so far. :D
And yes, gotta always be vigilant and aware of all of your surroundings on the road. I think he meant well, though.

There is a little trick to that center stand. You kinda want to have it rolling back as you push it down. You should of seen me with my first one :D There's a right way and a wrong way and I sure didn't have the right way ;D

..the center stand works off leverage...
..put it to the ground, and put your right foot on the pad...(boots feel better on th' bottom of ur feet when doing this)..with right hand grip the rear rack, left hand grip the left handlebar
..put most your weight on the center stand's pad, and lift up and back on the rack, steadying with your left hand...
..it should pop right up onto the stsnd...

Okay, folks, (you can laugh at me now) here's the problem...When I put my left hand on the handle bar and my right hand on the rear rack I am stretched almost completely out and the top of my body is near the seat! LOL. I have no leverage in this position. Also I cannot lift the rear of the scooter even with both hands. I believe I understand how to do it, I just don't belileve it's possible for ME to do it.

The leverage is not from you, but the stand, when puting your weight on the stan pad, as you try to lift the scooter the force of your trying to lift transfers through the stand and rolls the scoot on to the stand.

Okay, so I get my weight on that little pad and I got half a chance? I can't lift the rear even a 1/4 inch from the ground with both hands when I'm standing directly behind it, though. When I saw my neighbor's son and the guy at the dealership do it they were both standing near the back of the scoot facing front and just had to bend slightly to reach the front handlebar. It was almost as if I could see the weight transferring in a little half circle. Looked real cool. I'm guessing the guy at the dealer was about 5' 11" or so and the other fella is taller at 6' 2". But when I try to do it, sid, I'm like sideways, facing the side of the bike. (They were near the back facing front.) I am up near the front of the seat. Sounds like that's good for putting all of my weight on the stand, but then I have no body weight or muscle near the rear rack to help me lift, just an outstretched hand. Maybe I need to see if I can find somebody to take a pic of me trying to do it to explain it better. Give y'all a good laugh, lol. I kinda just gave up on it for now. That kickstand is real pretty, though. :)
If I get up that hill this week, maybe I should ride to a gym and lift some weights, huh?

I keep both hand on the grips...
roll the scoot back a little then hit the pad with my foot
pull back on the bars a little more and its up!

I dont think it is about strength, more about getting your weight on the stand, and when you try to lift the rear in a rearward motion, lift against your right foot and the stand. Once you havd done it a few times you will get the idea and it will get easier with practice. You may not need it very often, but it is good to be able to use it when you do need it.

Ha! See what you started ;) No I realy did have problems in the beginning. I had just got back on my feet after a seriouse back injery(my reason for getting into scooters) I could barely Walk and had little streangth.
For me it was realising where the balance point was of the stand and getting most of my weight behind that point. From there you want to roll the bike back as you push down the stand. Momentum and leverage will do the rest. Once you find this point and gain some confidence it will be easy. You might have someone steady the front for you till you figure it out.

..put your foot, solid on the "pad"...get your right hand as close to your foot, vertically..try to make a straight line up and down between your hand and your foot.....as possible...
..push your foot down, and pull straight up on the luggage rack...
..the scoot should pop backwards up onto th center stand...

..as long as you have control of your scoot..in a relatively stable state...it 's gonna sit nicely on the center stand, when you finally get it there...lol..

I like the look of the Agility. It caught my eye. The style's a bit different that the ppl. Maybe I'll find me a deal on some tall boots or something. The size is a bit intimidating for me, but I may be able to learn how to deal with it over time. The push through the yards out to the road seems to be getting a bit easier.
I suppose if I had twice (or 3 times the money) at the time I would have gone in to the local dealer and sat on and tried out everything he had. No telling what I would have come out with, but I'm sure my feet would have touched the ground. I would have had it registered and been rolling already. I suppose the good thing that may come out of the frustration is that I'm forced to be extra cautious while learning and starting out because I know it's difficult for me to manage it.
I suppose if I find I really don't enjoy it or something I could always try to sell it and look for another deal. I don't hold high hopes of finding another deal on something as new as 500km for $900 bucks in my area, though so I may as well try to learn to deal with it for awhile.
Okay, you all talked me into trying the center stand thing again. But it's gonna have to be tomorrow if the rain lets up. I don't have much room in here to move around. lol. If I can't do it, I'm gonna just rig something up (that should be funny) for the times I will need it like to deal with oil and such. Or....ask somebody else to do it for me.

Ya it's kinda important to now how to do it. The obviouse for tuning and maintanence. But in the real world the side stand can"t be trusted. Any incline,some punk kids,a soft patch of ground It's going down. I havn't seen the agility up close but many are too straight up and down and just the vibration while idling can send it over. I rarely if ever use the side stand.

Ya I had an eton beamer for a bit the side stand was spring loaded. Just touch it and the thing would snap up like a mouse trap :o Good for nothing :D
