Yesterday, strong winds/gusts---my Xtown was blown all over the place with Puig Touring screen on=not fun on country roads/dangerous when you can not hold line in curves. My fix: remove Big touring screen, earlier I had removed Givi E-46 box putting lighter and smaller Bestem box on getting some weight off over and behind rear axle. Stock windshield with Laminar Lip bolted on now mounted.
With only 3,000 miles I have noticed the OEM Kenda rear is already wearing square----so may take it off and replace with Michelin Power Pure SC, that I know from previous experience on scooter WEARS round for its life=great aide in handling and security, had them on rear with both Burgman 400 and 2 SilverWings.
Other things to move weight down and forward, use my Givi hump bag for heavy stuff. Next trip take only one Ortleib rubber bag on passenger seat. One problem with using scooter for what it might not have been designed for, is goofy handling. Today checked tire pressure and made sure it is now at 29 fr and 33 psi rear.
Purpose of my ride yesterday---go to Dalton GA to collect money for my Honda CB300F that has been sold----used back roads to get north (to home) as I-75 was totally stopped northbound---Lane splitting against the law here=stupid!! The rest of the world gets by with it.
Conclusion: square worn rear tires do nothing for scooter handling!

Only lane splitted a couple doz times in SoCal. Was knocked off the pillion seat by my stupid rider while commuting to work with him. Pouring rain,banged up knee - got to work wet, sore & grumpy only to find out I'd been RIF'd ! (made the shop pay for my cab ride home.'tablock' quick change motocross sprockets - happy to see the business fail!)
Promptly moved back to Mass and have not been back to that stupid state since! (1967)
Worst screen I ever had was the stock Burg 400 job....went to an sport Ermax shorty = happy.

If everyone is calm, keeps the speed in check and checks their mirrors as they should, there's no reason lane splitting (we call it filtering here) should be outlawed. Also, your pizzas would take a lot longer to get delivered in British cities...
